HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Zilberstein: Parents Who Buy Child An Electric Bicycle ‘May Become Partners In Murder’

(Monday, October 10th, 2016 07:30 PM)

1HaGaon HaRav Yitzchok Zilberstein recently gave a psak halacha that parents may not buy an electric bicycle for their children. The rav compares doing so to placing a loaded gun in the child’s hands, stating such parents may become “partners in murder”.
The rav address parents who give in to the demands of a child who wants such a bicycle, explaining they may be viewed as “partners in murder” and held responsible as such. Rav Zilberstein is a member of the Degel Hatorah Moetzas Gedolei Hatorah as well as Mora D’asra of the Ramat Elchanan neighborhood of Bnei Brak.
The rav was quoted by Yated Neeman, asked if parents may buy an electric bicycle for a child or alternatively, to permit a child to ride on one. The rav adds that in response to continued efforts by a child to persuade them to buy the bicycle, they must explain it is comparable to a loaded gun and therefore, out of the question

I THINK THAT HE IS CORRECT IN THINKING THAT GIVING IN TO THE DEMAND OF A CHILD IS KILLING THE CHILD

AS I EXPLAINED IN MY LAST BLOG
IF I THINK WHAT THE RABBI SAID IS CORRECT I AGREE WITH WHAT THE RABBI SAID. THE RABBI IS NO G-D, THAT WHAT EVER HE SAYS IS CORRECT.
I STANK THE REASON WAS THAT BEFORE I CAME TO MUNKS I WAS COLLECTING IN LUBAVITCH BY THE KAPORAS IN KINGSLEY WAY
BUT YOUR AIM IN LIFE IS TRY AND TAKE ME DOWN, WELL FUCK OFF
BY THE WAY THE GABOIM IN MUNKS INVITED ME TO COME AND COLLECT THERE.

I haven't seen an electric bike, only electric scooters. Why does the rabbi want to ban them? Because, they go too fast?
All modes of transport are risky. What about when driverless cars become the norm?
Also, Shanah Tovah Rabbi Lock.

Have you ever thought, even for a moment, that as everyone regards you as slightly odd or completely mental, this might actually be the case ?

What are you collecting for? How can we contribute? How can I get an invitation from the Gaboim at Munks to collect there?

Gut shabbos

Tragedy In Machane Yehuda: A 70-Year-Old Struck And Died As A Result
(Monday, December 5th, 2016 08:30 PM)

Mrs. Naomi Naftali was tragically struck by an electric bicycle in Machane Yehuda Shuk two weeks ago. A 70-year-old woman who was struck by an electric bicycle and died in hospital as a result of cranial bleeding R”L after about two weeks. The operator of the bike is a person in his 30s.

According to witnesses, he struck the woman very hard and she fell to the ground and sustained a head injury. It is reported she got up relatively quickly but an ambulance was summoned nonetheless.

The woman was taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital and was conscious upon arrival in the emergency room but her CT showed she was bleeding into her brain which lead to a hemorrhagic stroke. She fell into unconsciousness before doctors could really examine her. The decision was made for an urgent transport to Hadassah Ein Kerem for emergency neurosurgery. In the interim, a second CT showed the internal bleeding was becoming more severe. It was realized her chances of recovering were slim at best but the decision was made to still try to intervene with life-saving surgery.

After the surgery at Hadassah it was learned she had sustained severe neurological impairment to her brainstem and doctors told the family she would never walk or speak again. The family was summoned to the hospital on erev Shabbos as her condition took a turn for the worse and then again on motzei Shabbos. By the time they arrived she was no longer alive.

Officials in Hadassah explain by the time the woman arrived, she had already suffered massive cranial bleeding.

electric bicycles are very dangerous and scare the heck out of me. They should be banned from sidewalks and stiff fines given to those who ride them on the sidewalks.

I was nearly hit by one of these bikes, crossing Yafo at Machane Yehudah. They should be illegal. There is no reason to drive them like they are sports cars, but you don’t know when they will come round a corner or behind you at speed – there is no noise. They are just as bad on the roads.

How terrible for the nifteress’s family to see her suffer.
